From time to time when I am editing I come to something that I have to do repeatedly and wish I had a shortcut to use. Usually I just go to the search bar on the customize keyboard window, type it in and find out that one already exists. However, there are times that the command exists but hasn’t been assigned to a key and is just waiting for an editor to add it in a memorable and creative way.

If you have ever used composite modes in other programs such as After Effects or Photoshop, you know you can easily cycle through them to test each look by using shift plus or minus. However, in Final Cut you have to repeatedly right click and chose or go to a drop down menu. Luckily, each mode can be mapped to a key and an easy way to have them available to cycle through is using control + each num pad number. This way you can hold down control and just work your way up the number pad checking each look.
